Wearing Schedule
The custom made orthoses is designed to provide proper muscular- skeletal alignments. The orthoses you have been fitted with are designed to reduce or relieve your pain symptoms by reducing abnormal structural and soft tissue stress.
A gradual break-in period is recommended. Please keep in mind that this is only a guideline and that your wearing protocol may be specific depending on your diagnosis.
Please note to always check for any skin irritation or pressure points. If the redness does not go away after 15- 20 minutes, please stop wearing the orthosis and come in to our office for adjustments.
Day 1 Wear time: 1 hour total. This can be broken up to 1/2 hour in the morning and 1/2 hour in the afternoon. Please make sure to take off socks and check for any irritation after wearing the orthoses.
Day 2 Wear time: 2 hours total. This can be broken up to 1 hour in the morning and 1 hour in the afternoon. Please make sure to take off socks and check for any irritation after wearing the orthoses.
Day 3 Wear time: 3 hours total. This can be broken up to 1 1/2 hours in the morning and 1 1/2 hours in the afternoon. Please make sure to take off socks and check for any irritation after wearing the orthoses.
Day 4 Wear time: 3 - 4 hours total as long as patient is mobile. Please make sure to take off socks and check for any irritation after wearing the orthoses.
Day 5 If orthoses is comfortable , and no skin issues have been present during the initial four days, then the wearing time can be increased at your discretion.
